ABOUT

Overview

Octopus3 CIC is a Community Interest Company based in Cumbria, providing marketing, communications and campaign services to organisations across the UK.

The company exists to help socially useful, mission-led and community-focused organisations become easier to find, easier to understand and easier to trust. Its work is practical and outcome-focused, combining research, consultation, planning, execution and review.

Octopus3 is not a charity. It is also not a conventional private, profit-led marketing company. It is a Community Interest Company, which means it is set up to trade with a clear community purpose and to use its work and resources for wider social benefit.

What Octopus3 does

Octopus3 primarily provides marketing, campaign planning, communications and business development services.

Its work includes:

  • marketing strategy and planning

  • campaign development and delivery

  • website content and structure

  • social media planning and content

  • copywriting and plain English messaging

  • communications reviews

  • audience and stakeholder engagement

  • crisis communications planning

  • business development activity

  • project messaging and launch communications

  • practical delivery of agreed marketing and communications work

  • review of results and recommendations for improvement

Octopus3 works with clients to clarify what they are trying to achieve, who they need to reach, what those people need to understand, and which practical actions are most likely to produce useful results.

The company does not simply advise from a distance. It will research, consult, plan, execute and review the work with the client involved throughout, unless the client prefers a more remote role.

Why the work matters

Many good organisations struggle to be found, understood or trusted by the people they need to reach.

This is not because their work lacks value. Often, the problem is weaker capacity around marketing, communications, planning, digital content or business development.

Octopus3 exists to address that gap.

Clearer communication can help organisations reach more people, explain their value, attract partners, build confidence, improve take-up of services and become more sustainable.

For community-focused organisations, this can create both direct and indirect social benefit. The direct benefit is to the organisation. The indirect benefit is to the people, places and communities that organisation serves.

In some instances, Octopus3 may offer pro bono work as part of their social impact objectives. You can read about this by clicking here.

How Octopus3 works

Octopus3 uses a practical working cycle:

Research. Consult. Plan. Execute. Review. Improve.

This means the company starts by understanding the organisation, the audience, the problem and the desired outcome.

It then works with the client to shape a plan, deliver the agreed activity, review what happened and improve the next stage of work.

The approach is deliberately plain English, pragmatic and focused on useful action.

What Octopus3 does not do

  • Octopus3 is not a charity, grant funder or public authority.

  • It is not a care provider, clinical service, addiction treatment provider, counselling service, safeguarding agency, housing provider, legal adviser or financial adviser.

  • It does not replace the professional responsibilities of regulated services.

  • Octopus3 does not normally provide generic business coaching, motivational training or abstract consultancy without a practical communications, marketing, campaign or business development purpose.

  • It does not exist to teach organisations to do all their own marketing from scratch. Its role is to help organisations make better decisions, communicate more clearly and get practical work done.
